On August 31st, we celebrate Maria Montessori’s birthday. She was a pioneer in education, a champion for children, and a force for good in the world.
Montessori was born in Chiaravalle, Italy, in 1870, at a time when women were not expected to achieve great things. But she defied the odds, becoming the first woman in Italy to earn a medical degree. Then, she went on to become a world-renowned educator, developing a revolutionary method of teaching that has helped millions of children around the world learn and grow.
The Montessori Method is based on the belief that children are naturally curious and eager to learn. She believed that children should be given the freedom to explore their interests and learn at their own pace. You also believed that children should be treated with respect and dignity.
Her legacy lives on here at Crescent Ridge Academy. We are grateful for her contributions to education and to the world. She was a true inspiration, and we are proud to celebrate her birthday.
